Alfred Hitchcock’s ’40s espionage thriller, whose plot about Nazis hiding out in South America is merely one of the master’s maguffins to focus on the perverse love affair between agent Cary Grant and alcoholic Ingrid Bergman, whom he blackmails into having sex with dastardly Hun Claude Rains as a means of getting information.
This Cinema Rediscovered opening night event is a preview of the brand new 4K resotration, which goes on general release in August. It’s introduced by critic and film historian Pamela Hutchinson (Sight & Sound, The Guardian).
