Lee Marvin stars as a vengeance-crazed mobster taking on the hoodlums who landed him in the slammer in this cracking, violent, flashback-ridden ’60s crime thriller from John Boorman, adapted from Richard Stark’s The Hunter, which divided critics on release back in 1967. It’s subsequently been reassessed, and in 2016 the film was entered into the National Film Registry by the United States Library of Congress which recognises “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant films.”
The director will be present after the Watershed’s screening to talk about his experiences working on Point Blank, as well as his seven-decade career in film and TV, which has yielded the likes of Deliverance and Excalibur.
