Suspicion + panel discussion

Director
Alfred Hitchcock
Certificate
PG
Running Time
99 mins

In the first of Cary Grant‘s collaborations with Alfred Hitchcock, he plays an unspeakable cad who woos prim young heiress Joan Fontaine with dastardly ulterior motives. Despite being landed with a cop-out ending by the censor, this is a cracking romantic thriller that gave Our Cary an early opportunity to broaden his range. There’s additional unintended pleasure to be gained from the fake Hollywood English countryside.

This screening is part of the Cary Grant Comes Home for the Weekend festival and will be followed by a panel discussion with with Cary Grant experts Mark Glancy and Kathrina Glitre, chaired by Matthew Sweet. Mark and Katherina will also be giving illustrated talks in Hitchcock and Cary Grant: “The Only Actor I Ever Loved” prior to this screening.
