Alto saxophone player Sophie Stockham has established an assured presence in her jazz outfit Sefrial and also as a member of Jamie Cullum’s favourite brass ensemble Dakhla. Although now she’s shifted focus to her own trio which pays tribute to some classic tracks, albeit with a contemporary twist. It’s a project which has brought a sense of freedom as well as the chance to experiment. Her show at The Canteen looks to be a busy one as she’s already a musician at the very heart of the Bristol jazz scene.
