Explosive new solo show by Bristol performer Liz Clarke.
The performance explores grief, coping mechanisms and ‘things we do to get us through’; combined with sheds, impossible heels and a huge dollop of glitz!
Liz is a Bristol-based performance artist and this will be the first time for her to perform a full-length solo show in her home city. The show combines Liz’s live art practice with cabaret and theatre, and will also include live music on stage.
is needed now More than ever
Cannonballista is inspired by ordinary women living extraordinary lives. It is directed by Holly Stoppit, with sound design by Sam Halmarack and lighting design by Chris Illingworth. Written and performed by Liz Clarke.
Says Liz: “Cannonballista is the story of my Super Hero Alter Ego, Betty Bruiser, who has been present in my life for a good few years now. This highly charged performance will bring together a cannon, a shed and impossibly high heels, in ways that have never been witnessed before! It also features (if Betty gets her way); the biggest feat of her career so far.”
Liz specializes in working with people who do not normally access the arts, especially people with lived experience of mental health. In the run-up to the show, Liz will share her practice and creative process, in a series of workshops for women.
Using themes from the show participants will discover their own Super Hero Alter Ego – the parts of ourselves that are extraordinary, untapped and unexpected. The workshops are designed for women with and without mental health issues who want to further their performance experience.
An open workshop will be held at the Brunswick Club on the 6th and 7th of October. Places are £5 and can be booked by contacting info@lizclarke.org
