Second pro-EU rally due to take place
The first of two consecutive pro-EU rallies was hailed a success with over 200 remain supporters attending.
The turnout on college green comes after 61.7 per cent of Bristol that voted to remain in the EU in last Thursday’s vote.
Monday night’s protest was organised to show Bristol’s support for not only the EU but also the migrants and refugees living in Bristol, some of who have come under attack since the referendum.
is needed now More than ever
Among the signs throughout the protest were slogans such as, “diversity and Equality, not Brexit”, “Fromage not Farage” and “love conquers Fear.”
Another pro-EU protest is organised again for Tuesday evening, with around 1,500 people expected to attend.
The protest has been called by Stand Together Bristol, who said: “We stand alongside the people of Europe to show we are inclusive, open and patient to understanding how we can make the Leave decision into a positive one for all – age, gender, race, demographic, location, and their leave or remain vote. We stay with Europe!”
The protest is planned from 5pm-7pm on College Green.
