Third food bank opens in one neighbourhood
A new food bank has become the third to open in one of the most deprived parts of the city.
The Vineyard BS4 Food Bank outlet operates from St Barnabas Church on Daventry Road.
It is the third food bank to open in Knowle West, with The Salvation Army in Padstow Road and Ilminster Avenue Nursery School also running their own food banks.

The Vineyard BS4 Food Bank was established as a delivery-only service in March 2020, delivering 630 emergency food parcels in the last year.
It is one of six outlets that make up the South and East Bristol Food Bank, which is a project run by charity InHope and part of the national network of Trussell Trust food banks.
The face-to-face clinic at St Barnabas Church has come about as the cost-of-living crisis increases the need for emergency food.
Andy Irwin, manager of South and East Bristol Food Bank, said: “Having a base in Knowle West will mean that we will be able to start to go beyond the all-important emergency food parcels, to signposting people in crisis to speak with support workers who can help people tackle the issues they’re facing and reduce the need to use a food bank again in the future.”
Rev Dr Trevor Dean, associate minister at St Barnabas Church, added: “We are really pleased that by having a local base the food bank will be able to offer even more vital support to many in the local community at a time of real financial challenge.”

As well as food banks, a food club also operates in Knowle West at The Inns Court Community & Family Centre.
The Matthew Tree Project, a crisis support charity based on Filwood Broadway in Knowle West, also runs an emergency food service.
The Vineyard BS4 Food Bank operates every Wednesday from midday to 2.30pm at St Barnabas Church on Daventry Road in Knowle West. Anyone who would like to use the service is asked to contact local advice centre Filwood Hope.
